LOCATION:

Baytown, Texas

BACKGROUND

The Danubina and E James area in Baytown Texas have experienced significant flooding in the past, notably during hurricane Harvey more than 3,500 homes were impacted. To mitigate the drainage issues in this area, a partnership project has been undertaken by the Haris County Flood Control District and the City of Baytown (COB).

PROJECT FEATURE

This critical project consists of two phases to be completed concurrently. Phase 1 includes the designing of replacement storm sewer system along E Hunnicut Street, E James Ave, E Wright Street, and Dwinnell Street to increase the capacity of the drainage system, and to conform with the current COB storm sewer design criteria. The second phase consists of the Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for the detention basins and channel conveyance improvements for Hull Gully. Several alternatives for the channel improvements and location of the detention basins are being considered in the analysis and will be provided in the PER.
