BACKGROUND
Located in the City of Seabrook, E Meyer Avenue between SH 146 and the N Meyer Road is a two-lane pavement section with no shoulder and open ditches. This is a residential area with no sidewalk along this road. This project included installation of sidewalk, funded by Harris County.
PROJECT FEATURE
The project included design of concrete sidewalk on the north side of East Meyer Avenue from SH 146 to North Meyer Avenue in Seabrook. Located 2,000 feet from Trinity Bay, the total project length is approximately 4,000 LF. Approximately 450 LF of sidewalk currently exists from North Meyer Road to the west. The proposed sidewalk was tied into this existing sidewalk. At the west end, the sidewalk was tied into the proposed sidewalk for SH 146 Project. At the east end, a crosswalk was installed crossing East Meyer Avenue. Because of the excessive side slopes, retaining wall (up to 18” tall) was required in some areas. Some drainage modifications were required including providing culverts for some sections and inlet modifications.
