Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Odessa District

LOCATION:

Odessa, Texas

BACKGROUND

The Odessa District of TxDOT is proposing to improve the BI 20 frontage roads in Ector and Midland counties in Texas, specifically from 8th street to Odessa County Club, from Faudree Road to FM 1788, and from FM 1788 to one mile east of FM 1788.

PROJECT FEATURE

The three segments of the 7.6-mile BI 20-E frontage road have numerous crossovers and bridges. The then state of the road was causing safety and flooding issues due to deteriorating bridges and inadequate drainage. infraTECH inspected the deteriorating bridge and proposed retrofit. infraTECH developed multiple traffic operation and safety improvement options to improve the safety of the frontage road. To address the inadequate drainage system, infraTECH developed a 3D model in OpenRoads Designer. infraTECH led coordination as a prime consultant with seven other sub consultants in preparation of Plans, Specifications, & Estimates (PS&E) package for the project.

RELEVANT SERVICES

InfraTECH provided engineering services required for the preparation of PS&E and related documents which includes roadway widening, pavement and bridge rehabilitation, drainage design, traffic operations design for BI 20-E frontage road in Odessa, Texas. As the prime consultant, infraTECH was responsible for most of the design work on the project.
