BACKGROUND

Missouri City Estates (MCE), located at the City of Stafford, experienced drainage problems in several locations. The City undertook this drainage improvement project to alleviate problems in the these areas within the subdivision.

PROJECT FEATURE

The project involved improvement to existing drainage system that included a combination of improvements to the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) channel, construction of a storm sewer and regrading ditch along MCE streets to provide additional depth and outfall capacity. Required depth of the channel conflicted with the Enterprise oil pipeline. Proactive and early coordination with Enterprise resulted in an agreement to remove this abandoned pipe instead of going through expensive design alternatives.

Also included in the design were the relocation of water and sanitary lines. Project team coordinated with the HCFCD to show no impact at the outfall. They also coordinated with other public and private utility companies including Fort Bend Water Districts, CenterPoint, and AT&T.

RELEVANT SERVICES

Relevant services included detailed engineering analysis and design, preparation of plans and specifications (P&S), and support during construction.
