LOCATION:

Houston, Texas

BACKGROUND

The North, Central and South main lane plazas of Sam Houston Tollway have both cash lanes as well as EZ tag lanes. There is traffic congestion in the cash lane of all three plazas particularly during the peak hour. The project includes reduction of one cash lane and replace it with automatic lane for all three plazas for both directions. The ultimate goal is to turn all lanes into automatic toll collection lanes.

PROJECT FEATURE

The project includes design of new 230 feet span overhead sign bridge structures which is not part of TxDOT standard. Modification of the existing toll plazas includes relocation of the existing structures as well as design of new exit/entry ramp gantry.
